Ten riders make up the Team Sky shortlist for the Giro d'Italia, according to a report by Cycling Weekly. Newcomer Mikel Landa finished third last year and will lead the selection.
Beñat Intxausti who won a Giro stage with Movistar in 2015, and Leopold König will be two of the key support riders in the mountains. Reigning world time trial Vasil Kiryienka won last year’s long time trial and is also likely to be present in Apeldoorn.
Furthermore, cousins Sergio and Sebastian Henao are likely to provide more firepower in themountains while Elia Viviani will target another stage win in the sprints. Ian Boswell, David Lopez and Christian Knees complete the shortlist.
A few weeks ago, Sebastian Henao said that he will skip the Giro and focus fully on the Vuelta. If that’s true, the nine Sky riders for the Giro are already known.
