Ramon Sinkeldam sprinted to seventh at stage 1 of the Skoda-Tour de Luxembourg. Andre Greipel took the win from the bunch sprint and is the new leader in the GC.
There were beautiful conditions at day two of the Skoda-Tour de Luxembourg. At 212.6km it was the longest stage this year. Along the road, several small hills had to be tackled, as six riders made the early break After 5km the gap already was 2’00”.
In the final local lap the breakaway was caught and a bunch sprint was prepared. Ramon Sinkeldam sprinted to 7th. Andre Greipel (Lotto – Soudal) won the stage and is also the new overall leader.
“I gave the others the opportunity to push me away and lost my position due to that. Very disappointing. It’s my own mistake. The team did a very good job in bringing me into position.
“For the upcoming days we have to await and see since there are some difficult stages to come,” said Sinkeldam after passing the finish line.
