Next season Simone Ponzi will continue with the Neri Sottoli team. Team manager Luca Scinto confirms the news via Twitter.
Having won races every year since 2009, Simone Ponzi didn't disappoint in 2014. Having ridden for Lampre-Farnese Vini (2009-2010), Liquigas (2011) and Astana (2012-2013), he stepped down a level when he joined Neri Sottoli for 2014 and he paid back the trust immediately with the victory in his first race, the GP Costa Degli Etruschi(February 2) which was followed by two more wins, the classic Dwars door Drenthe (March 16) and GP Nobili (March 20). He didn't manage to repeat those feat in the Giro d'Italia but rediscovered his good form in the final part of the season: he was third in Coppa Agostoni and Coppa Bernocchi, fourth in the GP Prato and sixth in the Memorial Marco Pantani.
The Italian team recently announced the renewal of another of its leaders, Mauro Finetto, and so far has signed Matteo Busato (MG.Kvis), Luca Wackermann and Elia Favilli (Lampre-Merida) and Jakub Mareczko and Eugert Zhupa. They are expected to confirm the signings of Alessandro Petacchi and Francesco Gavazzi in the near future.
