In 2015, Fabio Silvestre will do the Giro d'Italia. The Portuguese is set to do more important races in the coming season and hopes to take another step up in his second professional year at Trek Factory Racing.
Fabio Silvestre has selected his main goals for 2015. "I will achieve one of my biggest dreams. While the Tour is the main goal of my career, the Giro could be a starting point to get there. I am aware of the difficulties that I will find in the mountains. A three-week race requires special preparation," he tells A Bola.
His calendar includes the Dubai Tour, Vuelta a Andalucía, Vuelta a Murcia, Clasica Almeria, Volta a Catalunya, Tour de Romandie and Giro d'Italia, "with some classics involved". "I'll have more responsibilities, last season was to adapt. I raced without the pressure to obtain good results. Most of the time I had the job as lead-out man in the sprints, a situation that this not allow me to chase personal results," he explains.
The World Championships in Richmond is also on his mind. "It's one of the goals of the season and I will work towards that. I know I have to get results but I also know that Nizzolo is the sprinter of the team and the Van Poppel brothers are also very fast," he tells the Portuguese sports daily.
