Stage 3 on Saturday at 178,5 km departed from Dobrovnik and ended atop the first category climb in Trije Kralji. Team Katusha’s Egor Silin kept pace with the group of leaders and still shows promise in the Tour de Slovénie. He took 8th place atop of the climb, 45 seconds behind the winner of the stage.
Primož Roglič of Adria Mobil took the win ahead of Team Sky’s Mike Nieve and his teammate Radoslav Rogina, who finished 3rd.
“It was a very hard day today. There was a lot of climbing plus rain all day. Egor Silin showed he is still good. He stayed with the GC guys. We know it will be hard to win this race, but Team Katusha never gives up, so we will see,” said team director Claudio Cozzi to the Katusha website.
In general classification after today’s queen’s stage Primož Roglič became the new leader. Egor Silin moved up to 12th place, 56 seconds behind the leader.
The 22nd Tour de Slovénie concludes on Sunday with a final road stage. At 165,5 km the stage begins in Rogaška Slatina and ends in Novo Mesto.
