The third stage of the WorldTour race Eneco Tour ended once again, like the two previous stage, with a massive sprint. This time the winner of the stage was Tom Boonen from Etixx – Quick Step, who outsprinted Arnaud Démare from FDJ and Italian rider Elia Viviani from Sky. Katusha’s Rudi Selig finished 7th, while Viacheslav Kuznetsov was 11th.
"Another stage ended with a sprint. Our team did a good race, in the final Rudi was able to finish among the strongest sprinters, while our GC leaders also were very close behind. Tomorrow we will have the first important stage, which will impact the GC. We are motivated to get a strong result," said team’s director Torsten Schmidt.
The third stage of 171,9 km started in Beveren and ended in Ardooie. Three riders went away in the breakaway in the first kilometers, but the peloton controlled the race and inside the final 20 km the break was neutralized for the bunch sprint.
In the general classification Jesper Asselman from Team Roompot Oranje Peloton still holds the lead, while Jacopo Guarnieri from Katusha is 8th, 9 seconds behind the leader.
Tomorrow it is an important 13,9 km individual time trial in Hoogerheide.
