In an interview with Elle Radio, Michele Scarponi has taken stock of the work done in preparation for the Tour de France, where he will again ride in support of Vincenzo Nibali.

"We worked to get in good condition for the Criterium du Dauphine, but we will be perfect at the Tour de France. We are following our path which is similar to last year: we have to get to 100% for the French race. For now we have shown to be in good condition but not perfect yet."

In the Dauphiné, Nibali raced as a protagonist, takingthe yellow jersey.

"Vincenzo is a special rider who follows his instinct," Scarponi said. "That day he invented a beautiful action and took the yellow jersey with a huge effort for which he paid later because he is not yet in top condition. Then he raced well in the other stages, but the trend shows that he is not in top condition in that race. We are aware of Nibali's and Astana's strength. In the Tour de France we will do like last year and will do everything to win back the yellow jersey with Vincenzo. The opponents are many and very strong, but we are aware of our strength."
