Samuel Sánchez will make his season debut in the Cadel Evans Great Ocean Road Race on February 1st and so will join the 2011 Tour de France champion and 2009 world champion in his last race as a professional.
On Friday, the BMC Racing Team confirmed the signing of Samuel Sánchez and the Spaniard will continue with the American team in his 15th year as professional. On Saturday, the Spanish rider joined the training camp in Dénia and now the team has announced that he will join Evans in what will be the first race of his season. By doing that, Sanchez will discover a new continent.
The 20 participating teams are BMCvRacing Team, Team Sky, Orica GreenEdge, IAM Cycling, Trek Factory Racin, Cannondale-Garmin, Katusha, Etixx Quick Step, MTN Qhubeka, Androni Venezuela, UnitedHealthcare, Drapac Professional Cycling, Team Budget Forklifts, search2retain-health.com.au Cycling Team, Navitas Satalyst Giant Racing Team, African Wildlife Safaris Cycling, Symantec Data # 3 Racing Team, Team Charter Mason Giant, Avanti Racing Team, Jayco-AIS and the U23 National Team.
Last year, BMC announced the signing of Sanchez on February 1 and this year they did so on January 24. Two years in a row, the Spaniard has started the season without a team but again he has managed to save his career at the last minute.
