Yesterday Samuel Sánchez stained his red and black BMC kit in mud when he took part in the 45th Trofeo CiclocrossMemorial Trophy Cyclo-4th Memorial Amadeo Izquierdo in La Tenderina (Oviedo) where he finished 11th.
Samuel Sanchez has not yet clarified his future. He wants to stay in the professional peloton but for now there are no guarantees. Meanwhile, he did not want to miss the race in La Tenerina and faced a muddy circuit. It was definitely a new experienc for the former olympic champion. In the end, he finished 11th in a race with 28 participants.
In 2008, Sanchez was a keydomestique for PhilippeGilbert in the Ardennes and the Tour of Beijing and for Cadel Evans in the Giro d'Italia and showed his own capabilities when he finished 6th in the Vuelta a Espana and 5th in Il Lombardia.
In his career, Sanchez has been on the podium in the Tour de France and the Vuelta a Espana and has won stages in both races. He was Olympic champion in 2008, won the Vuelta al Pais Vasco in 2012 and has excelled in the big classics with podium finishes in Fleche Wallonne and Il Lombardia and two fourth places at the World Championships.
