2017 will be a year of great change for cycling. In addition to the announced reforms, many riders have announced their retirement at the end of the season that is about to start. Samuel Dumoulin could join this group.
Dumoulin has been one of the best French riders for more than a decade. Now Progress reports that 2016 could be his final season as his contract will expire at the end of the year that will be his 17th in the pro peloton.
"I reserve the right to do one more season," he said. "I talked to my teammates: they told me that if I felt good in 2016, I would always have a place in 2017."
The former stage winner at the Tour de France won the Drome Classic in 2015 and so proved that he is still competitive at the age of 35.
