Peter Sagan has underwent a week of gym work with a Belgian specialist in order to correct back pain which he felt held him back in the Classics this season.
"Peter has had an excellent year with the world title and the green jersey at the Tour. But throughout the season there was a constant niggle in the knee and hip," Tinkoff-Saxo team doctor Peter Lagrou told Het Nieuwsblad. "Moreover, he had, in his own words, the feeling that he could not make the most of his strength during the finale of the difficult Classics."
Sagan hopes the treatment can help him in the finale of long races, after he placed fourth in Milan-Sanremo and Flanders and 23rd in Roubaix.
