"I don't really want to talk about next season yet because first of all I just want to finish this year well. Next year is still far away, I think," Peter Sagan said.

Even though almost all news regarding Peter Sagan are connected with his move to Tinkoff-Saxo since the transfer season kicked off, the 24-year old Slovak turned down such discussion at the Vuelta a Espana team presentation, claiming that he remains focused on his 2014 objectives.

"I want to finish this season well first and then we can talk about next year," Sagan said ahead of his first race since he put pen to paper with Oleg Tinkov.

Despite narrowly missing out on claiming a stage victory at the concluded last month Tour de France, Sagan has won a points classification for the third year in a row and enjoyed a well deserved rest disrupted only by short appearance at the Clasica San Sebastian.

Reluctant to discuss the 2015 season, the 24-year old Cannondale leader seemed to detract potential difficulties in marrying his own and Alberto Contador’s ambitions in next year’s edition of la Grande Boucle.

"Why not? But that's next year," Sagan said. "I don't really want to talk about next season yet because first of all I just want to finish this year well. Next year is still far away, I think."

Still, more than on green jersey Sagan was focused on the rainbow one, as his appearance at the Vuelta a Espana is expected to serve him as final preparations towards World Championships held this year in Ponferrada.

Even though the route of this season’s World Championships road race, slightly less demanding than expected, suits a wide range of riders from classics and Ardennes specialists to wily climbers, 24-year old Slovakian certainly will be regarded one of the biggest favorites to strip Rui Costa (Lampre-Merida) off of his highly coveted jersey.

Thus, Sagan admitted that it is yet to be determined whether he would take risks in finales of the Vuelta a Espana opening stages, on paper suiting the Cannondale leader down to the ground.

"After the Tour, I needed a little bit of rest, I needed to recover, but now I'm ok, I feel good," Sagan said. "Now I'm here for training and I'm looking to build form for the world championships."

"I don't know if I will take a lot of risks in the sprints or not," Sagan said. "I'm coming here after a bit of rest and then I started training easy, so now I just want to get back to race rhythm first. Then we'll see how I'm going day by day."
