Peter Sagan missed out on what seemed to be a guaranteed win at the end of last year's edition of Milan-Sanremo. This year he is back to seek his revenge and he will be supported by what seems to be the Cannondale A team as the squad prepare themselves to again carry the main responsbility throughout most of the race.

Spring is in the air, and that means the exciting Classics season is around the corner. Taking place this Sunday, March 23, is the "Classicissima" Milano-Sanremo, the kick-off to the Classics races, and a time for Cannondale Pro Cycling to prepare for another major target.

Team leader Peter Sagan is ready to return to Milano-Sanremo to seek victory. The captain is set to arrive at the race in the best condition after performing well earlier in the season at races such as Tour de San Luis, Dubai Tour, Tour of Oman, Strade Bianche, and Tirreno-Adriatico. The Slovakian champion is ready for the 2014 challenge.

"I did what I had to do in order to improve my condition, and the results I achieved make me confident," said Sagan, who won one stage in Oman and another at Tirreno-Adriatico on March 6. "Milano-Sanremo has always been one of the most important goals of my season. I plan to succeed at this race and ready myself for the next - the upcoming Belgium Classics.

"The route without Pompeiana climb makes the race different, but I'm not worried. This change effects everyone. To win Milano-Sanremo, you need to first to be at your top condition and try to own the race with your team. That is my goal."

"Last year's experience was an important lesson for me - it showed me how unpredictable and hard this Classic can be. For this reason, there is a long list of contenders. I'll be satisfied at the end of the race if I've done whatever is possible to do my best and win," added Sagan.

Like Sagan, the rest of Cannondale Pro Cycling has a clear the goal and the role the team has to play on March 23. Therefore, team directors Mario Scirea and Alberto Volpi have a well-rounded and balanced roster of athletes, all of whom have already performed well, at their disposal. Additional Green Machine riders include Moreno Moser, Damiano Caruso, Maciej Bodnar, Alessandro De Marchi, Oscar Gatto, Marco Marcato and Alan Marangoni.

"Milano-Sanremo is one of the thorniest races of the season," said directeur sportif Mario Scirea. "The team must be focused for the entire day, and we cannot underestimate any race situations or other contenders. We chose riders who will be able to control the race in the beginning, and the others are ready to support Peter. We have all we need for a bold performance and to chase our dream."
