Bayern Rundfahrt’s stage 4, an ITT (Haßfurt – Haßfurt 26,1 Km), was a demanding test for Team Colombia-Coldeportes, showing that room for improvement still exists in this kind of races
Brit Alex Dowsett, new overall leader, clinched victory in the Time Trial. The Movistar rider clocked a time of 31:33, beating Katusha’s Tiago Machado (+0:01) and Bora Argon 18’s Jan Barta (+ 0:16).
As expected, Colombia-Coldeportes’ Escarabajos still struggled as time trials don’t fit their characteristics: Carlos Quintero provided the best performance for the team led by Oscar Pellicioli, 2:20 behind Dowsett.
“It was not a good day," Sports Director Pellicioli said," but we look ahead to the tomorrow’s stage, aiming to be in the thick of action”.
Tomorrow, Sunday May 17th, the peloton will tackle the last stage: 197,8 Km from Haßfurt to Nurnberg.
