Rohan Dennis (BMC) has become the second Australian after Jack Bobridge to announce his intention to attack the Hour Record. The Australian will make his attempt on February 8 in Grenchen (Switzerland) where he will try to beat the mark of 51.852 kilometers set by Swiss Matthias Brandle on October 31.

Dennis, 24, was fifth in the world championship time trial in Ponferrada behind Bradley Wiggins, Tony Martin, Tom Dumoulin and Vasil Kiryineka and was just 17 seconds from the bronze medal. He won the team trial with his BMC team. Furthermore, he is a double world champion in the team pursuit on the track and won the silver medal with his Australian teammates at the 2012 London Olympics.

“When I look at my experience on the track and the numbers I have been doing on the track and road, it’s within reach,” Dennis said.

“As long as I don’t get too excited at the start and control my nerves, the pacing will take care of itself.

"I’ve been training towards this since Worlds, ever since I got back on the bike and I really appreciate the team backing the project."

In 2014, Dennis left Garmin to join BMC in August as he wanted to work with Alan Peiper. He won a stage and was second overall behind Wiggins in the Tour of California and was also second in Circuit Cycliste Sarthe behind then-teammate Ramunas Navardauskas. In 2013, he won the Tour of Alberta, was second in the Australian time trial Championships Australia and finished eighth in the Dauphiné after having worn the leader's jersey for a day.

In 2013, he was second at the U23 time trial at the Worlds in Limburg, beaten by Anton Vorobyev. He won the team pursuit world championships in 2010 and 2011 with Jack Bobridge, Michael Hepburn, Cameron Meyer and Luke Durbridge and only Great Britain denied him the gold in London 2012.

He hass ben riding for the Australian Institute of Sport (2009), Team Jayco (2010), Rabobank Continental (2011), Team Jayco (2012), Garmin-Sharp (2013-2014) and BMC Racing Team (2014).
