Today, The Riis Seier Project announced that Australian Michael Rogers will take on the role as the company’s Chief Executive Officer.

The former three time World Champion in time trial and Tour de France stage winner will start his new role with immediate effect following last month’s retirement from a sixteen-year professional cycling career.

“When Michael announced his retirement from professional cycling, I immediately discussed with the board about his potential leadership of the project” said Bjarne Riis, co-founder of The Riis Seier Project.

“I know Michael very well from his many years in cycling. He is in every way a dedicated person with an extremely professional approach to things. And Michael has a proven record of leadership in the professional cycling world. Together with his energy and aspirations to learn the business world, we firmly believe he can lead the project into an interesting future,” Bjarne Riis continues.

The 36-year old Rogers looks forward to joining The Riis Seier Project and work with co-founder Bjarne Riis, who retired from cycling to run a world class cycling team and earlier this year together with Lars Seier Christensen, former CEO of Saxo Bank, announced their plans to start The Riis Seier Project.

“I’m excited and grateful to be given the opportunity to lead this project. In comparison to my athletic career of the last two decades, a new set of challenges will present themselves in my new role as CEO,” said Michael Rogers.

“It is of course humbling, but I feel confident that my leadership roles at several of the world’s prominent cycling teams have provided me with some valuable experience to make the switch from being a sportsman to take on this new role. I’m delighted about collaborating with Lars Seier and Bjarne Riis to create a sustainable business based on some very appealing cycling related experiences and products,” Rogers continues.

The Riis Seier Project aims to build a financially strong, diverse and sustainable business based on innovative new cycling projects around a World Tour cycling team. Multiple projects are already underway, and the work to put together a cycling team is progressing and will be further advanced with Michael Rogers on board.
