The sixteenth stage in the Tour takes the riders to Switzerland. It will be another hard day in the saddle as 209 kilometres will be covered. The course has a hilly profile but there’s only one categorized climb.
Jurgen Roelandts shares his thoughts:
“Today will be the perfect day for the non-climbers, who still have a bit of energy in their legs, to join the break. The course is rather tough and hilly. Many riders want to be part of the breakaway so I don’t think that we'll get a bunch sprint in Bern. In my opinion, the front group can consist of about fifteen or twenty riders as a few teams were unable to win a stage so far. It will be a real fight to be part of it. There are a lot of riders who’ll have the ambition to show themselves: Swiss riders such as Cancellara and Elmiger, Cummings, Sagan, Van Avermaet, … The list is endless! And hopefully for us, a Lotto Soudal rider will be able to do something nice today.”
