After he retired at the Rio Olympics before Katusha forced him to ride the final Autumn Italian Classics, Joaquin Rodriguez’s agent has said his client has not ruled out racing in 2017. Bahrain-Merida have been linked to the veteran.
Rodriguez rode Milan-Turin and Gran Piemonte and is racing Il Lombardia today, which he won back to back in 2012 and 2013.
“We are not ruling out anything right now,” his agent Angel Edo told Cyclingnews. “Nothing is signed with anybody and there are lots of different options on the table. Joaquim wanted to retire in the Olympics, but this obligation to race in Italy has changed his point of view. He wants to leave the sport in the way he wants to leave it.”
