After a one-year absence, the Tiegemberg will be back on the course of Dwars door Vlaanderen in 2016. That was revealed at the official presentation on Monday. Last year Tiegemberg was inaccessible due to road construction. The climb was replaced by the Hellestraat.
The peloton will tackle a total of twelve climbs and three cobbled sections. The 71st edition of Dwars door Vlaanderen will be held on March 23. Jelle Wallays won the 2015 edition of the semi-classic.
The organziers revealed that the first big name to confirm his participation is Alejandro Valverde. The Spaniard made his debut on the cobbles in the race in 2014 and played a significant role in the finale. This year he will use the race to prepare for his debut at the Tour of Flanders.
