Having mentioned the possibility of skipping the Tour de France in 2015, Chris Froome has apparently changed his mind. According to L'Equipe, the Brit will line up in the French grand tour and the Vuelta a Espana next year.
According to French newspaper L'Equipe, Chris Froome plans to ride both the Tour de France and the Vuelta a Espana in 2015. Already this year he did both grand tours after a crash in the Tour de France prompted him to include the Spanish race in his schedule.
Due to the minimal amount of time trialling, the 2013 winner criticized the course for the Tour de France which seems less suited to his characteristics. As opposed to this, the route for the Giro d'Italia which features a long time trial in the second week, earned his praise.
According to the French newspaper, he has changed his mind and decided to skip the Giro. The possible wet and cold conditions in the month of May would not work well with his asthma and allergies. Furthermore, the Vuelta is reported to include an individual time trial of 35-40km in the third week. Froome has already politely refused the Oleg Tinkov's proposal of riding all three grand tours in 2015.
After the 2012 Vuelta, Froome said that he was unlikely to again ride two grand tours in the same seaon but apparently he has now changed his mind and is ready to go for glory in both the Tour and the Vuelta in the coming season.
