Following two rather disappointing seasons in the Dutch based Rabobank/Belkin team, Mark Renshaw is thrilled to return to the side of Cavendish next year, at OPQS team, according to biciciclismo.com. However, the Australian lead-out specialist admits it will not be as easy as before to "dominate" the sprinting field, because the competition has increased.
"After two enjoyable seasons with Belkin trying to win races, I'll return to my old role to launch other sprinters," says Renshaw. He had some results sprinting for himself in the Dutch team, including three victories and multiple podium places. Most recently he won a stage in Eneco Tour this year by a surprising attack in final kilometers. But frankly speaking, one would expect him to do better, considering his lead-out ability.
"I'm excited to race with the OPQS guys and of course Mark Cavendish again," says Renshaw. Two years have passed since the last time Renshaw and Cavendish race together, and things surely have changed a lot since then. Emergence of Marcel Kittel and his Argos-Shimano sprint train makes things a lot harder. Another German---Greipel is also able to compete against the top sprinters. "It will be difficult to dominate as we did in those days, especially with so many great teams and sprinters in the current peloton. However, I am very excited about the challenge." Renshaw says.
Without Renshaw, Cavendish experienced a lot of difficulty in Tour de France, only won 3 stages in 2012(Greipel also took 3) and 2 stages this year(Kittel took 4). Many expect that the acquition of Renshaw would help the Manx missile obtaining better results.
