Nairo Quintana isn’t sure if he will participate in the Vuelta a Espana later this month. He was down to ride, but after a hard Tour de France, he is still making his decision.
“We are deciding if it if possible to do the Vuelta or not and a little later we will take the decision. For now, I will rest and disconnect and wait for Eusebio (Unzué) to decide,” Quintana said, according to Biciciclismo. “I am not taking a break as such, due to team commitments, for many things and I’m with my family.”
Should he ride, he would bolster an already A-list field with his Movistar teammate Alejandro Valverde, Katusha’s Joaquim Rodriguez, Astana trio Vincenzo Nibali, Fabio Aru and Mikel Landa, Sky’s Chris Froome and BMC duo Tejay van Garderen and Samuel Sanchez. The only big star missing is Alberto Contador, who has ended his season.
Froome is yet to confirm but should he do so, this may be even better than the Tour de France, with some big names looking for redemption and other like Froome, Valverde, Quintana and Rodriguez looking to build on great Tour performances.
