This afternoon Cult Energy Pro Cycling’s Rasmus Quaade hoped to secure an overall top-10 position in the Tour du Poitou Charentes 23 kilometer individual time trial.
The big favorites were obviously Tony Martin (Etixx-Quick Step), Alex Dowsett (Movistar) and Adriano Malori (Lampre) and the Italian rider crushed all competition by completing the course in 27 minutes and 49 seconds. CULT Energy’s Rasmus Quaade did his third top-ten in three days and rushed through the course in 7th fastest time.
The Danish time trial specialist is now 5th overall and is 7 seconds away from the podium. The race ends tomorrow.
“It’s been a terrific race for me so far and it’s a real treat getting to compete in the finals every day here. Now, we’re facing the final stage and as Tony Martin took the jersey, it’s going to be a challenge denying the bunch again but naturally, it’ll be worth a go. The team has supported me all through the race and I’m only happy to be back on track after a long period of illness in the spring but it’s excellent timing in terms of preparing for the Worlds,” he said.
