The international cycling union UCI has accepted the application of Androni Giocattoli-Sidermec for ProContinental status. The union made the announcement via Twitter.
The Italian team was put in the waiting room by the UCI in November as they did not meet all the requirements for a professional license. Meanwhile, the paperwork from Androni Giocattoli-Sidermec has now been completed and the UCI has issued the license for 2017.
Nothing is yet known about the license application from Verva ActiveJet. Like Androni, the Polish team did not meet the requirements for a ProContinental status in November.
Furthermore, there is still no news regarding the WorldTour license for TJ Sport, the Chinese team which is now known as Lampre-Merida. The team is in financial difficulty but has reportedly been saved by a sponsor from Abu Dhabi.
