The end of the years celebrations did not go as planned for Andrew Talansky. While the American was training, he suddenly crashed when he hit a patch of black ice. As sa result, he sustained a broken thumb,
The Cannondale-Drapac rider had to undergo surgery and can remove the stitches in about ten days and gradually resume training.
Talansky revealed the injury in an interview with VeloNews and also announced that this won't change his ambitions for 2017 or his racing program. Fifth in the 2016 Vuelta, the American has made the Tour de France his big goal for the coming season. He has also put the Tour of California which is part of the WorldTour calendar this year, high on his list of priorities.
