After his horrific crash in stage 3 of the Giro d'Italia, Domenico Pozzovivo is ready to return to racing in the Tour de Suisse which starts on Saturday.
"I resumed training after eight days (on May 19, ed.)," he says. "I've done a CT scan of the head and I had various appointments with doctors for my facial injuries and with a neurologist. Everything is good.
"My return to the road made me happy. Especially since I soon rediscovered the good feelings. My condition was very good when I crashed. It was reassuring to see that it came back pretty quickly.
"I really want to race again and to be in the fight. In the Tour de Suisse, I'll take it day by day. Listening to the sensations, we'll see each day if I can go for GC or have to focus on a stage victory. I hope to be in good shape for the Italian Championships.
"I will take a break in early July as was originally planned. Then I will make my preparation for the Vuelta with a training camp at altitude. I will return to racing at the Tour de l'Ain (August 11-15)."
