The Cote de la Marquise, whose summit was at 12,5 km to the finish of the 4th stage of the Critèrium du Dauphinè (Anneyron-Sisteron, 228 km) did not create much selection, giving to the sprinters another opportunity to fight for a top result. Bouhanni did not miss the opportunity, obtaining the victory ahead of Van Genecthen and Mezgec. Pozzato was the best Lampre-Merida riderin 21st .
The hill of 1,3 km at 6,7% whetted the interest of the top riders and some of them made attacks which did not receive freedom from the sprint teams.
The stage was the last day of survival for the climbers who are going to face for consecutive summit finishes.
"The team was great in supporting Rui [Costa] and [Rafael] Valls in the bunch during the stage and Pozzato in the approach to the sprint," sports director Philippe Mauduit said. "Under the flamme rouge, Bono lead Filippo to the front position of the peloton, but unfortunately the sprint was chaotic. There was not a leading team, so the grup changed many times and Pozzato did not find the space for his sprint."
