Wout Poels will not be signing for Bekin according to Belkin manager Richard Plugge. Plugge says he is interested in the man from Limburg who won a stage in the Vuelta a Pais Vasco this year, but insists he is too expensive.
"He is a good rider, we are interested, but he's too expensive," says Plugge to the newspaper Algemeen Dagblad. The new Lotto/Brand Loyalty crew saw Poels as the successor to Bauke Mollema, who recently left for Trek Factory Racing.
Also, Omega Pharma-Quick Step, the current team of the rider, made him an offer. However, sports director Wilfried Peeters expects the Dutchman leave the Belgian team. According to the management of the 26-year old rider, he would still have some other offers from the World Tour.
