Bruno Pires was left disappointed at the end of the 2013 season when he was told that his contract with Saxo-Tinkoff wouldn't be renewed but now the management of the Danish team may have changed its mind. The Portuguese has been spotted on photos from the first training camp and has recently confirmed to Portuguese media that he will stay in the WorldTour.
After years of working tirelessly for Alberto Contador at Team Saxo-Tinkoff, it was a disappointed Bruno Pires who earlier this year announced on his Facebook page that his contract for the coming season hadn't been renewed. Without a contract for the coming season, the Portuguese was hoping that he would still be allowed to ride at the highest level.
A few days ago, Pires was much more optimistic when he announced that he had signed a contract that would allow him to continue in the WorldTour in 2014. However, he refused to name the team on that occasion.
The mystery may now have been solved as Pires is now attending the training camp of his currently that will be known as Team Saxo Bank in 2014. Two days ago, Alberto Contador sent out a press release with some photos taken at the camp and they revealed that Pires is spending his time with his current (and coming) teammates in Gran Canaria.
Neither Pires nor Team Saxo Bank have confirmed the news but it would be very unusual for Pires to attend the camp if he wasn't going to ride for the team in 2014.
