In the most demanding and prestigious stage of the Giro d’Italia, Stefano Pirazzi (Bardiani) was one of the best, finishing 15th after 177km and five tough mountains with the terrible Mortirolo along the way.
The #Greenteam was also in the mix with Edoardo Zardini who was part of the early breakaway and neo-pro Luca Chirico who climbed Mortirolo and a very good pace.
Pirazzi made a superb comeback onthe Mortirolo, passing several riders on the road to Aprica and finishing 15th, 8:13 minutes behind winner Mikel Landa (Astana).
”It was a really demanding day, a classic queen stage," he said. "The key moment happened on the descent after the first passage in Aprica. The group split in several parts and I was behind. Since the bottom of Mortirolo I started a long comeback, going full gas until the finish in Aprica. I’m feeling really good, I hope to join the right breakaway in the last two mountain stages."
