After winning the opening stage, Thibaut Pinot (FDJ) secured the overall win in the Tour du Gevaudan by finishing second in the final stage.
"The stage was rather quiet except for the finale," he told Diectvelo. "You had to be wary of bonus seconds. I knew I had a strong team around me. I was never alone. It went well. Kenny (Elissonde) set a good tempo during the second passage of the Jalabert climb. He did a good job.
"I was a little better than yesterday. When you have a big team next to you, it's easier to handle the pressure. How long is it since I last won a stage race? It was the Settimana Lombarda in 2011. I'm happy to win today.
"My biggest failure of the year is the Criterium International. I have been there from the beginning of the year. It's good to win here as I had expected it. It bodes well for the Tre Valli Varesine, Milan-Turin and the Tour of Lombardy. These are races that I have red-circled."
