Pieter Weening has been set back in his preparation for the 2016 season. The 34-year-old new signing of Roompot Orange Peloton has had to undergo surgery on his appendix on the tropic island of Curaçao. The tam made the announcement via Twitter.
Ten days ago Weening participated in the Coral Estate Polar Classic, a mountain bike race in Curaçao. It is not known how long he needs to recover from the surgery.
Weening has spent the last three years at Orica-GreenEDGE where he has won a stage of the Giro and the Tour de Pologne overall. Next year he will be the biggest name at Roompot during their second season in the peloton.
