It was nother attack by Androni Sidermec in the Giro d'Italia queen stage where Franco Pellizotti made it into the 10-rider group on the descent of the Passo Carlo Magno and continued until the beginning of the climb of Mortirolo. He hoped to be given room by the peloton but the favourites kept them on a short leash.
The action of the team captain was still appreciated by the many fans along the entire route that started in Pinzolo and ended in Aprica. The team led by Gianni Savio and Giovanni Ellena retains the lead in the sprints competition where Marco Frapporti and Marco Bandiera occupy the first and second place respectively.
