Paris-Tours winner Jelle Wallays tried to use the hilly course on stage 2 of the Driedaagse van West-Vlaanderen to his advantage when he joined the early break.
"In the end, my hip hurt," he told Directvelo. "My basic form is good. But since that crash in Kuurne-Brussels-Kuurne, I have suffered. I'm going to take a little rest. I do not feel very good. I think I'll have to be checked.
"In the leading group, the agreement was good. Everybody took their turns. But unfortunately, I had to let them go. Normally, this should never happen. Anyway, I think the weather was too good and we could not avoid a bunch sprint. Many teams wanted to control the race."
