On Sunday Sven Nys (Crelan-Euphony) will be at the start of the Hansgrohe Superprestige race in Ruddervoorde. After a short rest and a light training, he is again ready for a battle, according to a press release from his team.
During the night from Friday to Saturday, Nys fell ill and he had to forfeit his participation in the European Championships in Huijbergen. After resting this morning and doing a light workout in the afternoon, he is fit enough to start in Ruddervoorde.
"Perhaps Sven has eaten something wrong and he has had to recover. Sven is already feeling much better and is ready for Sunday," he says. "Obviously it was his withdrawal from the European Championships is regrettable but in view of the rest of the season we made the right choice. At this point of the season, it is not necessary to take risks," said team manager Jan Verstraeten.
