After eight seasons the relationship between Rinaldo Nocentini and Ag2r La Mondiale has come to an end. The 38 year-old Italian leaves the tea without regrets and has known for some time that the contract would not be renewed at the end of this season.
Instead, Nocentini regrets that he hasn’t won a race since 2010 whenwon the first stage of the Tour du Haut Var and the general classification of the Tour Méditerranéen . Since then he has achieved many top 10 results and had lots of near-misses against younger opponents. Nocentini has also had many bad injuries that have marked the last few seasons.
He entered the history of Italian cycling in 2009 when he spent 8 days in the yellow jersey at the Tour de France but since then he has had to deal with a fracture of the tibia and fibula (2010 GP Insubria) and most recently a broken clavicle (2014 Vuelta al Pais Vasco).
After eight seasons, Nocentini leaves Ag2r La Mondiale but he is not ready for retirement. According to Arrezzo Notizie, he has three proposals on the table, first from Lampre-Merida and now followed by offers from IAM Cycling and Caja Rural. Lampre and IAM would allow Nocentini to stay in the WorldTour.
