Having suffered a heavy crash during the second stage of the Vuelta, David Tanner was immediately put in the care of the doctors at the Malaga hospital where he spent the night. The results from the examinations proved to be reassuring.
It was clear that the IAM Cycling rider had suffered multiple abrasions and various bruises. Additional test have been made and have finally revealed that there was no fracture to the hip and pelvis area. There is of course still a great deal of pain as a result of the impact suffered in the fall.
After being informed of the final diagnosis, David Tanner commented on the situation:
“When the big crash happened, I did not know what was going on. I was taking something out of my back pocket, which meant that I could not brake in time. I fell on my hip and immediately felt a sharp pain. We were worried, but in the end, I didn’t break anything. And that is what is most important.”
In view of the fact that there is no fracture, in addition to the reassuring diagnosis offered by the doctors in charge, the IAM Cycling sports managers and the team’s doctors will now discuss when Tanner can return to competition depending on how quickly his injuries can heal.
