Yesterday the Presidential Tour of Turkey finished with another fifth place for Daniele Colli (Nippo-Vini Fantini) in the sprint. Earlier in the race his teammates Eduard Grosu was in a good break that was caught in the final kilometres. The team heads back to Italy with one podium, three top 10 results and aggressive racing in the breakaways.
The Presidential Tour of Turkey is an important event in preparation for the big goals at the Giro d'Italia and the Tour of Japan. First of all the performance of Daniele Colli was remarkable, with a second place in a sprint behind Greipel, a fifth place behind Cavendish and another fifth place in the last stage. Genki Yamamoto, Mattia Pozzo and Eduard Grosu were on the attack and the latter also finished 9th in a sprint.
Hiroshi Daimon, team manager, and Mario Manzoni, sports director, have good feelings about theteam performance: “The team did good things in this race,” declared Mario Manzoni, “especially when we worked as a team from the start to the end of the stage. When Colli finished second, there was a great team work, first in two break and then to help hime to get onto the podium. If we work as a team we can achieve some good results in the Giro d’Italia and the Tour of Japan."
