Vincenzo Nibali has indicated that his big goals for the 2016 season are the Giro d'Italia and the Olympics. However, he now admits that it will be hard to focus on both races.
"Two goals for next season? I'm superstitious, but I have not yet thought about it," he told Rai Radio2 at the presentation of the project Bike The Nobel which will advocate for the bike to recieve the next Nobel Peace Prize. "I would love to do the Giro as well as the Olympics, as a personal goal. However, the two races are not compatible because to be at your best at the Olympics, you have to do the Tour de France."
Astana manager Alexander Vinokourov has made it clear that he prefers Nibali to do the Giro and Fabio Aru to lead the team at the Tour. However, he has not ruled out the idea of Nibali doing the French race to prepare for the Olympics.
Nibali also explained why he supports the Bike The Nobel project.
""I also support Bike The Nobel because the bike is a means of freedom, fun, companionship and today it is becoming a means of transport for all citizens. It can take you everywhere," said Nibali.
