"I do not have a definitive program. The current schedule is flexible, based on my feelings. No Giro? We will see. I want to keep the door open, it also depends on the team."

Vincenzo Nibali has created a temporary schedule for his 2015 season but leaves an "open door" for the Giro d'Italia. However, he is assumed to focus fully on the Tour de France where he will defend this year's victory.

Vincenzo Nibali's schedule will be similar to the one he had in 2014 although he will have less racing days and three training camps: two on Mont Teide and one in San Pellegrino just before the Tour de France. According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, his calenar is as follows: Dubai Tour (February 4-7), Tour of Oman (February 17-22 ), Strade Bianche (March 7), Tirreno-Adriatico (March 11-17), training camp on Mount Teide (March 28-April 11), Amstel Gold Race (April 19), Fleche Wallonne (April 22), Liege (April 26), training camp on Mount Teide (May 18-June 2), Dauphiné (June 7-14), training camp in San Pellegrino (June 15-24), Italian Championships (June 27) and Tour de France (July 4).

However, Nibali does not close the possibility of winning the Giro.

"I do not have a definitive program. The current schedule is flexible, based on my feelings. No Giro? We will see. I want to keep the door open, it also depends on the team," the winner of the 2014 Tour, the Giro 2013 and the 2010 Vuelta said in La Gazzetta

In any case, he admits that the Giro-Tour "would present huge problems". "The risk is to get to the third week in France where the race is decided, without legs. And in the time of the Giro, the group for the French race is built. However, the Giro always has an important role in my heart. I have an open mind and because of the fans I have to go back. I can skip the race for two years but then I have to return," he said. His trainer Paolo Slongo was even clearer. "Giro and Tour? That would require him to maintain a high level of form for three months. Impossible," he said.

Nibali also selected his rivals in the battle for the yellow jersery.

"Contador is the smartest, most experienced. He has a riding style similar to mine, he can make the race although he may be more cautious. Froome mainly won thanks to the team. Quintana is young and was second in the Tour and first in the Giro but I see him being a step behind," he told the Italian sports daily.
