Alberto Contador has resumed training in preparation for the season 2016 which is likely to be his final year at the top level. The Spaniard is targeting a final Tour de France victory but he may have to celebrate a third overall win in France in an unusual manner.
Contador has usually celebrated his victories with his famous pistol shot salute which has earned him the nickname 'El Pistolero'. However, Contador is deeply touched by the recent terrorist attacks in Paris and according to La Gazzetta dello Sport, he is now considering abandoning his usual victory salute in respect of the victims.
Contador will get the first chance to show a potential new salute when he returns to competition at the Volta ao Algarve. Later Paris-Nice, Volta a Catalunya and Vuelta al Pais Vasco will be on his radar before he turns his attention to the Tour and the Rio Olympics. He is likely to end his career at the Vuelta a Espana.
