Following its philosophy, the Androni Sidermec was aain on the attack on stage 12 of the Giro d'Italia: with Davide Appollonio in the first break of the day, with Gianfranco Zilioli at the midpoint and especially with Franco Pellizotti in the finale.
The captain of the team directed by Gianni Savio and Giovanni Ellena, was the protagonist of a huge show, breaking away from the group to get a good advantage as they approached the Monte Berico. Caught by Tanel Kangert, he managed to pass under the flamme rouge and was only caught with 700m to go. The result came one day after he finished third in Imolai.
Androni Sidermec retained the lead in the sprints classification with Marco Bandiera.
