Daniel Navarro was to carry Cofidis’ GC hopes in the Tour of the Basque Country. However, the number 181 is empty. The Spaniard has begun recovering from the double injuries suffered in the Volta a Catalunya, in the left scapula and the patella in his left knee.
The 2015 season has started in the worst way for Navarro. First, he fell in the Tour of Andalusia, suffering two fractured ribs, which kept him out of Paris-Nice. The Spaniard returned in the Volta a Catalunya and again crashed out on the final day in Barcelona.
Already in Gijón, his worst fears were confirmed with fractures in the left scapula and the patella in his left knee. Farewell, therefore, for the Tour of the Basque Country and the Ardennes Classics. He will not ride for three weeks, as confirmed to BiciCiclismo, and hopes to return to competition in May, before tackling the Critérium Dauphiné and the Tour de France.
For now, only has 13 days of competition: Murcia, Almería, Andalucía (abandonment 4th stage) and Catalonia (abandonment 7th stage).
