Alex Dowsett (Movistar) would take out the victory at today’s Bayern Rundfahrt 4th stage TT. Tiago Machado (Katusha) would stop the clock in 2nd and Jan Barta (Bora-Argon) was 3rd.
After team captain Steve Cummings had to abandon the race on stage 1, MTN-Qhubeka p/b Samsung were left without a specialist for today’s time trial stage. Nevertheless the boys were keen to test their legs against the clock and all riders would post respectable times.
With and early start Louis Meintjes crossed the line with time that saw him hold on to a top 10 placing for a large portion of the day. Once the favourites started later in the day though the leader board would quickly start to change.
The final starter would be Reinardt Janse van Rensburg and Reinie would also be the highest placed rider on the day. The South African strongman would muscle his way to 19th on the day.
"We could not compensate for the loss of Steve Cummings on the first day and Bayern Rundfahrt is a stage race for the TT specialist. Reinie rode well over the last 4 days and kept us in the game. We will keep our offensive riding style for the final stage and we will try to put Reinie in a good spot in Nurnberg where we will see the cycling capital of Bayern," sports director Jens Zemke said.
