Moreno Moser is looking forward to start the season in the colors of his new employer, Astana. The 25-year-old Italian will support Fabio Aru on his way to the Giro d'Italia but he has also picked out Strade Bianche as a race to go for his own chance.
Moser joins the tam from the American Cannondale squad. Now he chooses to continue his career with Astana.
"I have grown tremendously as a rider and as a person with Liquigas and Cannondale," he tells La Gazzetta Dello Sport. "Everyone advised me to leave, but I look back on a great experience. I feel this is the right time for a new step. Now I want to ride at a high level the whole season.”
Moser only focuses on one race.
"I have already won Strade Bianche and I want to repeat it, especially now that it has become a World Tour race.”
Captain Fabio Aru is happy with the arrival of his compatriot.
"I have read what he said and that makes me very happy. I believe that I can repay his confidence. I will often ride at his side, particularly at the Giro. I hope to help him," said Moser.
Aru and Moser will make their season debut together at the Tour of Valencia (February 1-5). Then Tirreno-Adriatico, Milan-San Remo and the Giro del Trentino are on the program and a participation in Liège-Bastogne-Liège is also possible. In May, the Giro d'Italia is the big goal.
