John Degenkolb won the sprint on the Magny-Cours circuit to take both the stage win and the leader's jersey in Paris-Nice. We have already posted several reactions and have gathered a few more below.
Fabrizio Guidi (sports director Tinkoff-Saxo whose best rider was Nikolay Trusov in 17th)
“Our main focus was on Rafal [Majka] in order to keep him out of trouble and naturally to support Nikolay [Trusov] in the sprint and the boys did a good job. Nikolay maintained 8th overall and I’m sure we’ll have more obvious opportunities in the days to come where we move into a bit more hilly terrain."
Romain Feillu (Bretagne, part of the early breakaway, 21st s.t.)
"At the briefing this morning we were told that we wanted to have a rider in the break. I went there. It was a good day. The peloton has never really left us much of a gap. No more than three minutes. It was almost guaranteed that we would not stay away.
"In the last ten kilometres when Perrig [Quemeneur] took a turn, he accelerated and took off on his own. With Julien [Fouchard], we were only40 seconds ahead so it was impossible. Some escapes sometimes stay away, not often but it happens. So by being present at the front, it is certain that it will soon pay off."
