Mark Cavendish won a crash-marred sprint in the final road stage of Tirreno-Adriatico while Alberto Contador safely defended his overall lead. We have already posted several reactions and have gathered a few more below.
Tanel Kangert (Astana, 43rd +0.06)
“Confidence, hope for a better next race. We know that it’s a positive cycle of success that comes from the first big triumph. Once one starts going well, then everybody starts to go well right behind him – one after the other."
Roberto Reverberi (sports director Bardiani whose best rider was Enrico Battaglin in 15th)
”After today [Marco] Canola has mathematically won the green jersey and this is an important result for our team. Tomorrow after the time trial he can celebrate a deserved success. About stage number 6, our sprinters [Filippo Fortin and Nicola Ruffoni] paid for the climbs in the second part of the stage and didn’t have the space to bridge the gap to the peloton. At this point, Colbrelli and Battaglin tried to do the sprint to get a good result. But the crash in the last corner prevented the former from sprinting while Battaglin, despite his skills, conquered a positive 15th place."
Nairo Quintana (Movistar, 28th +0.06)
"I will try to defend myself on tomorrow's stage. I will give my best in the TT to keep my podium place."
