Luka Mezgec (Giant-Shimano) asserted his dominance of the Volta a Catalunya sprints when he took his second consecutive stage win in yesterday's second stage of the race. We have already posted several reactions and have gathered a few more below.
Didier Jannel (sports director Ag2r whose best rider was Samuel Dumoulin in 18th)
“The two next stages will determine the final standings. We will have to follow the three favorites, Froome, Contador and Quintana, very closely. We will try to go with them as long as possible and then we will have to play our cards.
"So far we have fought to avoid dangers and not lose any stupid time for out leaders. We now need to make good choices and seize opportunities. We have no margin for error in the next two stages if we want to do well in the overall standings."
Dmitriy Fofonov (sports director Astana whose best rider was Jakob Fuglsang in 31st)
“Another mass sprint today, another stage of no drama for Astana. Everybody in with no time loss, no crashes and no stress.
“Tomorrow is the first day to fight for the GC and there could be snow at the finish. We need to manage the climbs and the descents equally in this kind of weather, so let the winter games continue!”
Davide Vigano (Caja Rural, 6th s.t.)
"I was completely frozen. It was a hard stage and I didn't find the best rhythm at the end. I hope to turn it around soon."
