Jean-Christophe Peraud took his second consecutive win on the Mont Faron but missed 4 seconds in the overall standings that were won by Stephen Cummings (BMC). We have already posted several reactions and have gathered a few more below.

Marc Madiot (manager FDJ.fr whose best rider was Alexandre Geniez in 14th)

"From a cycling perspective, it was a nice Tour Med with beautiful stages and a well-balanced difficulty. For us, we have a good race even though we were disadvantaged by the absence of two riders. Degenkolb won the second stage in a sprint from a group of 50 riders after a crash had caught out Pierrick Fedrigo on the descent. All day, Jussi Veikkanen was in the breakaway.

"The next morning, Degenkob won again after a successul breakaway by Arnaud Courteille who was delayed in the finale by a puncture. In the time trial in St Remy de Provence, Jeremy Roy set a good time (9th) but the best five were above his level. Finishing  in the top 20 (18th), Alexandre Geniez also did a good race. It was his first race and he lacked just a bit of competition to follow the best to the summit of Mont Faron where Peraud has repeated his 2013 win. Alexandre couldn't do much better (14th, 12th on GC) but the season has started well. It will only become better."

Egor Silin (Katusha, 5th +0.17)

“I really did my maximum, I even had the ambition to win. Why not? But in the end Péraud was too strong, I have to admit that. The team did an excellent job for me. They brought me to the front before the last climb started.  I was able to tackle the Mont Faron ‘easily’. I always stayed in the front, anticipating some attacks. Just when Péraud attacked, I tried to catch him, but I didn’t succeed. But I am pretty satisfied with today's race.”

Dmitry Konyshev (sports director Katusha whose best rider was Egor Silin in 5th)

“Egor showed good legs the entire week and that’s why the team supported him. Top 5 at Mont Faron is very nice result. Our ambition was also to finish top 5 overall, but we missed that goal by just 5 seconds. Anyway, this was again a good race for us.”

Jarlinson Pantano (Colombia, winner of the mountains jersey, 68th +3.33)

"I am happy for this last stage and of course also the mountains jersey. In the team, however, we are disappointed with the final stage. We hoped to make a better result with Carlos Julian Quintero and Fabio Duarte. Unfortunately, Carlos Julian suffered a puncure just before the final climb. It was very difficult to get back to the front of the peloton. That is cycling, you have to accept these incidetns."

"This victory in the mountains classification is very special for the team. My big season goal is to go the best possible Giro d'Italia. I hope that I will be in great condition in May. I really want to finish in the top 15 in the Giro GC. It's a real goal. And why not aim for a stage victory? I have already started well in the Tour Mediteraneen. Now we will have to continue to improve over the next races until the Giro."

Oscar Pellicioli (sports director Colombia whose best rider was Fabio Duarte in 28th)

“We obviously wanted to get more out of this stage, but things simply didn’t go our way. Nevertheless, we are happy to have won the red jersey with Pantano: he showed so much determination to take it, and really deserved this satisfaction. Let’s hope this start will bode well for the remainder of his season.”

Francesco Manuel Bongiorno (Bardiani, 8th +0.24)

”I’m satisfied with today's result and first of all I want to thank my teammates that did a great work for me during the whole stage. I didn’t know the Mont Faron climb, it was the first time and now I can say that it is not a mountain suitable for my skills. Too much for rouleurs than light climbers like me. Anyway my strategy was to wait until the last km to try an attack but Peraud anticipated everybody and when he attacked I struggled, losing Cummings' wheel, but luckily not so many seconds. We are in the middle of February and this is a good result for this time of the season."

Mirko Rossato (sports director Bardiani whose best rider was Francesco Manuel Bongiorno in 8th)

Bongiorno and all the team did a great performance today. We raced with the right mentality, also working in front of the peloton during the stage. It was a really good Tour  Mediterraneen for us, with Colbrelli earlier and today with Bongiorno, both young talented riders. Now after some days of rest, we’ll focus on Trofeo Laigueglia."

Quentin Jauregui (Roubaix, 18th +0.55)

"It would be hard to say that I am not surprised by this result on the Mont Faron because I finished ahead of some cycling greats at the age of 19. I did not have a target as I did not want to be disappointed. I am really pleased with my level in my first professional race. My only regret is to have done too much in the finale of the second stage where I attacked three times  and got dropped in the finale. I lacked experience in that stage. Everyone made me so excited. But I am still happy with my feelings during the whole week. This bodes well for the future, including the Tour du Haut-Var next week. I will also participate in the next training of Team France as Pierre-Yves (Chatelon) has invited me. It is a pleasant surprise. We will see what happens but I won't put any pressure on myself."

Cherie Pridham (sports director Raleigh whose best rider was Matthieu Boulo in 32nd)

“It was about getting race conditioning, getting into breaks, playing to our strengths and trying for a stage win or a podium place. Matthieu Boulo in particular was in a rich vein of form following his cyclocross season so our goal was to keep him out of trouble.

“My objective for this race was to take opportunities and make sure the Team Raleigh jersey was seen when it counted. The lads responded well all week and we progressed day by day. Today in particular was a special day.

“With such tightly controlled racing I am very pleased with Wilko’s [Ian Wilkinson's] 16th place on Stage 3 and Mark’s [Christian's] exposure in the break on Stage 4. We have a few things to work on and a few injuries to patch up before Haut Var later this month. Overall I’m super happy with the guys, it was a solid team effort from everyone.”
