"This gives me a lot of confidence for the races to come. In fact, today was the first time of the season I could do the sprint without having been bothered by others. Finally I could show my sprinting legs," Porsev says

Marcel Kittel (Giant-Shimano) took his third consecutive sprint win and Taylor Phinney sealed the overall win on the final day of the Dubai Tour. We have already posted several reactions and have gathered a few more below.

Rafael Reis (Banco BIC, 69th +0.04)

"This was a great test and an opportunity to ride witn a peloton of WorldTour teams where you are always learning. The high speed at the end of the stages created some difficulties but the result and experiences will be very helpful in the short term for the whole team."

Vidal Fitas (sports director Banco BIC whose best rider was Bruno Sancho in 22nd)

"We could not take the sprints jersey which we fought hard to get, but every day the team was visible in the race. The presence in Dubai comes as a result of our international contacts which is really valuable for the riders and give name and visibility for Tavira and Banco BIC/Carmim. This race will be important for the next races as well and the riders will have gained morale from this magnificent experience."

Juan Jose Lobato (Movistar, 10th s.t.)

"I'm happy with this result, even though I didn't win. I came close, with such good rivals like the ones I found here. My feelings on the bike were best in the first sprint on stage two; I don't know if I could have won, but I think that a second place would have been within my reach. I got boxed in and couldn't pedal for the final 50 meters.

"Friday was my closest call, but the pace on the final climbs was really fast and I had spent much energy before the sprint. Kittel was sensational this week. Today's finish didn't suit me really well and I didn't feel strong either. Despite that, the teamwork was brilliant.

"This is the best team I have ever been part of - I have no words to thank them for their commitment. I'm only lacking a bit more experience, because I'm not used to have such strong team-mates to lead me out in the sprints.

"This makes me confident for the next races; I'm feeling well and I have a great team at my side. Let's hope the first win comes soon, but I'm not obsessed with that."

Alexander Porsev (Katusha, 5th s.t.)

“This was nice. The team had a lot of faith in me and they guided me to the front of the peloton. Luca Paolini did a perfect job by bringing me in good circumstances to the last corner and then it was up to me. I was not afraid of anyone. I took my chance and can be happy with the result.

"This gives me a lot of confidence for the races to come. In fact, today was the first time of the season I could do the sprint without having been bothered by others. Finally I could show my sprinting legs.”

Jose Azevedo (sports director Katusha whose best rider was Alexander Porsev in 5th)

“We did a very good race today. Yes, we had in mind to try to win the stage, even though it is not so easy having a lot of strong riders in the peloton. But anyway, it was a good sprint and a nice result today.

"I can be happy. Our main goals are still ahead. This week we worked hard and Purito Rodriguez has good sensations on the bike. Both he and the whole team are on schedule."

Danilo Hondo (Trek, 58th +0.04)

“The last four kilometers were unbelievably fast – near 70 kilometers per hour. We missed the moment with the team here - we had spoken before the race about trying to go together in one line - but in the end it was just Fabian [Cancellara], Giacomo [Nizzolo] and myself with one kilometre to go. With the speed at the end it was impossible to move up if you were not in the right position already.”

Luca Guercilena (manager Trek whose best rider was Giacomo Nizzolo in 14th)

“There was not a personal mistake today, just a team mistake on the strategy we decided on this morning. We wanted to wait to start the lead-out, and not go too early, but then we were not able to do that. As you can see it’s not so easy to control things on such a wide road with those speeds.

“It is like I had said already, the team has some work to do on our leadout. We are a new team that is still learning to ride together and this will not happen in one day, or one race. It’s just that in the moment to give the last punch, we could not do that. It’s not such a big problem – we make mistakes and we learn; that is normal. It’s all okay.”

Willie Smit (Vini Fantini, winner of the sprints jersey, 120th +2.28)

"I wanted to take home this jersey at all costs and I am happy to be able to dedicate it to the sponsors and the management of the team that have allowed me to compare myself with the best riders in the world. I want to thank my teammates and Stefano Giuliani. This success is the culmination of all the great work."

Statement from the Vini Fantini managerment (whose best rider was Takashi Miyazawa in 8th)

"We are a continental team and have played a leading role by going on the attack at all times in a race that contained the best teams in the world. This fills us with pride. The sprints jersey recognizes Willie's great work but also the work of all the other guys whom have been led by sports director Stefano Giuliani.

"This success allows us to look forwards to the 2015 season with great determination and we will certainly try to move up a level thanks to the support of our sponsors and the philosophy and mindset that characterize this ambitious project: to discover and develop young talent and keep an international profile
